The Difference Between a Butler and a Concierge

Guests often use butler and concierge interchangeably, but the two roles serve different purposes and answer to different parts of the hotel. Knowing which to ask saves time and gets the right result.

A concierge is a shared desk service for recommendations and bookings across the resort, while a butler is a personal, room-focused attendant. One is public, the other is assigned to you.

For restaurant or excursion advice, the concierge is your resource. For anything inside your room or personal to your stay, the butler is the faster route and the more appropriate one.

Knowing which role to ask saves real time, since a butler cannot make restaurant bookings with the same reach as the concierge desk behind the lobby.
